Here he is!!! His name is Tyler Jacob Richardson. He weighed 8 pounds 5 ounces and is 21 inches long. It took him a while to get here but he finally came. They had to take him by C-section becuase he wasn't progressing after 17 hours of labor. He is so handsome and cute! He's also very mild mannered and content, except for when he is hungry!

Getting Ready for Baby

Jake and I have had fun searching on Craig's list and Ebay for baby stuff. Now that we know we're having a boy we can really start getting ready. My favorite purchase so far is this absolutely adorable bedding that we got on ebay. If you want some cute bedding at a pretty good price, look up JoJo Designs on ebay- some of the cutest things I've ever seen! Now we just need a place to put our baby stuff! We're in the process of looking for a new place to live, but just don't want to leave our area. We have the best ward and love the people in our neighborhood. We're hoping we can find a place around here that's a little bigger than our one bedroom place. Oh the joys of being a young, poor, student couple. :)

We had to take our car in to get fixed up a little bit- after 115,000 miles I think ol' Ruby (our red Honda Accord) needed a good tune up. The mechanic is one of Jake's old young men's leaders. He asked if we had any kids yet and Jake told him that we didn't, but were expecting in December. His reply was, "Oh great! Welcome to poverty!" Thanks... As if the word poverty wasn't enough to really help it sink in, he lets us know that the work on ol' Ruby will cost only $1,025! Thanks again. Cuz, you know, we're just totally loaded. So today when we pick up our beloved car she better be purrin' like no other and getting 40+ miles to the gallon... or else!

Drumrolllllll......

Alright all you folks the time has come! We had our ultrasound this afternoon and no doubt about it... we're having a little boy! We are so excited! He'll be the first grandson on the Merrell side, and he'll have a little cousin the exact same age on the Richardson side (My sister in law is due with a little boy on the exact same day!). I'm sure he'll be strikingly handsome, just like his daddy! Thanks for all your votes, and for those of you who voted for a boy- you win!

Kind of creepy, I know, but so precious too. Look at those eyes. And that white circle just right of his head is one of his little arms pushing up. It was so fun to see him moving around and kicking (my bladder). I can't wait to have him out of my tummy and in my arms. Hooray for little boys! Grandpa Merrell- here's the start of your football team!

So Jake and I just returned from a fun filled week Girls Camp. What a fun time! We went with the 4th year girls to "A Camp." We went to Blue Ridge Reservoir and went canoing and had a blast. Then spent the last 2 days at Camp Lomia. We absolutely loved it and Jake is hoping that we'll get to go again next year. (Pictures to come later) After Girls Camp I think Jake is kind of hoping for a girl. I was pleasantly surprised by how much he enjoyed interacting with the girls this week. If our little one is a girl- she's totally going to be a daddy's girl. Then Jake was watching some of his football highlight videos from high school and I can totally see him being all psyched to teach his boys football. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Tomorrow is the day we find out! I personally think we've got ourselves a boy, but wouldn't be surprised at all if it's a girl. I'm so indecisive! Anyways, get your vote in if you haven't already- my doctor's appointment is tomorrow at 4:30, so if you're really interested then check back at about 6:30 or so.
Oh, also- I have a job interview tomorrow with the University of Phoenix being an enrollment counselor. We'll see how it goes. It sounds a little scary- I'll have to role play a phone call and everything- that just screams a red face to me. Anyways, sorry for the lack of pictures, but my camera is trashy and I don't feel like looking anything cool up on the internet.

Creepy baby thing

Okay, so I've always thought that the little countdown til baby thing was kind of creepy. Not the idea of counting down, just the little alien baby floating and bobbing around. But I finally gave in and posted one to my blog. It's more for me than anything- it helps me keep track. And it's kind of fun to see how many days are left- kind of daunting right now with 165 days to go, but we'll get there soon. Jake and I find out what we're having on July 29th. We can hardly wait to find out what "it" is! We would be just absolutely excited with either a boy or girl, but it will just be fun to finally know what our baby is. I've posted a poll where you can vote what you think it will be. Boy? Girl? Let us know what you think. I'll of course post what we're having as soon as we find out!

Happy Anniversary

Jake and I celebrated our 1-year anniversary this weekend. I can't believe we've been married a year! It seems like it was just yesterday that I was moping up in Utah while my fiance stayed in Arizona. And at the same time I feel like we've been married forever (in a good way). It's hard to remember what life was like before we were married. Jake is the absolute best husband I could ever ask for. He is the most kind, caring, hard working, dedicated person I know. We have so much fun together and he is my best friend. Happy Anniversary Babe! For our anniversary Jake took me to the Buttes Resort. It was really nice and we had a great time. It was so fun being treated like "fancy" people. The workers there were so nice and were always offering their help with whatever we needed. We soaked it up because I'm sure from now on we'll probably only be staying at Motel 6's. Anyway, here's a picture of our hotel room:
This was on our bed. The chocolate covered strawberries were so yummy. There was a bottle of wine, but seeing as how I'm pregnant and we don't drink alcohol anyway they brought us a nice chilled bottle of sparkling cider. Mmmm.
There was a little lookout point that we climbed up to at night and this was the beautiful view we had. The picture doesn't do it justice, but it was beautiful seeing all of the city lights. This is a picture of the hotel's restaurant at the top of the butte. They had the best breakfast buffet there- not like a normal continental breakfast. They had everything you could possibly want. Made fresh, right when you order.
This was the "sky bridge" that connected all the hotel rooms to the lobby and restaurant.

There were beautiful waterfalls everywhere. It was amazing to me how everything was just built right into the butte. Jake loved all the waterfalls and had a good eye for finding them all.

We had a lot of fun at the pool too. It was very nice. There were two huge pools with a little channel connecting the two. Then there were jacuzzis further up on the butte. It was beautiful.

Jake's favorite part of the pool was this little window where you could see people in the pool. Jake said it made him feel like the dolphins in an aquarium. I just have to explain this picture. Probably the most unflattering picture ever taken in my life, but I couldn't help but put it up- Medusa hair and all. It's just so funny! And Jake loved it so much. So excuse the not so pretty picture, but just humor me and say it's funny.
After our stay at the Buttes Jake took me to Massage Envy to get massages. I'd never had a massage before so I was pretty excited. We were there a little early and were waiting until our appointment time. After awhile of waiting Jake just started giggling. I asked him what was so funny and he said he was just thinking about how he was afraid he was going to laugh during the massage. Then he started getting kind of nervous- I guess he didn't like the idea of another woman touching his body (I'm glad he doesn't like that idea :) ). I was trying to calm him and tell him that it was going to be relaxing and help his back, but then SHE walked out. A woman with red frizzy hair, a little on the larger side, and I swear I could hear her cracking her knuckles. "Jacob..." she said in a sultry voice. Jake slowly stood up as the woman shot out her hand for a shake. "Nice to meet you," Jake politely said. "You too," the woman replied. "My name is Tiger Lilly." Bah! Ha ha ha ha! Her name is what? Isn't that the Indian princess's name on Peter Pan? Jake turned around and gave me a look like "help me." All I could do was wave and say "see you in an hour sweetie!" Anyway, needless to say all I could think about during the first 10 minutes of my massage was how Jake had a masseuse named Tiger Lilly! All in all it was a good experience. I really enjoyed my massage and felt so relaxed when it was finished. Jake was so sweet to think of it. Thanks honey!
Then we went to Carrabba's for dinner. Mmmm- it was so delicious! I highly recommend the Chicken Marsala. You can tell from the picture that we were both pretty tuckered out from a fun-filled weekend. Thanks again Jake-o. You're the best!
